Why did UNL change antivirus products?
UNL's previous antivirus contract expired at the end of Jun 2005. The University started the RFP process to select a vendor last September. After presentations by the vendors and months of testing, Sophos was selected as the vendor through June 2008.
Who is covered under the new agreement?
The agreement covers all UNL computers, as well as the home computers of faculty, staff, and students.
What if I want to keep using McAfee for my antivirus protection?
The agreement that UNL had with McAfee expired at the end of June 2005. Departments or individuals that would like to continue to use the product after that time will have to purchase licensed copies of the product from a reseller.
How can I obtain the new software?
The antivirus software for individuals can be obtained either by bringing a blank CD to the Information Services Computer Help Center in rm 105 of the 501 Building, or by downloading from this web site.
If I have trouble installing the software, who do I contact?
